About me

Hello. My name is Andrew. I take photographs and sometimes write about taking photographs, among other things.

I grew up in Wallsend, a small working-class town just outside Newcastle upon Tyne in the north-east of England. I currently live on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, in the semi-rural north-eastern outskirts of Melbourne, Australia.

Photography has always been my favourite art form, but for much of my life I didn’t feel worthy of it. In recent years, however, I’ve come to accept it as probably the only art form I have even a remote chance of being any good at. As a neurodivergent trauma survivor, I also find photography is a very effective method of taking a break from the noise in my head.

The images I produce aim to evoke a sense of place, atmosphere, and history. I’m very drawn to areas and buildings that feel lived-in but forgotten, and I like to capture them while they’re still here. I have a strange fondness for capturing suburban industrial estates. They’re very peaceful at weekends.

Feel free to say hello by sending an email to hello@andrewparamos.com, or find me on Instagram @andrewparamos. I can’t speak for all photographers or online folk generally, but I like hearing from people.

I hope you like what you find here.

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work, and recognise that sovereignty of this land was never ceded. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
